| Q: What kind of woods do we use in the manufacturing of gunstocks? |
A: Primarily kiln dried Black Walnut. Very stable, very machinable , very
durable. Typically on the darker side, usually yields a nice color and grain
pattern from plain to semi-fancy. We also use, on a limited basis, Hard Rock
Maple, ( blonde in color), high grade Claro or highly figured Walnut, and
some laminates. For our AK stock line, we also use Russian or Finnish made
Birch Laminate. This material is basically identical to the stocks found on
original Russian and Eastern European AK47s. |
|
| Q: What kinds of stocks and products do we manufacture? |
A: We primarily manufacture reproduction military gun stocks for the AK-47
& the FN FAL. We also produce exotic Ruger 10/22 bullpup conversions
and various 10/22 accessories. Recently we ventured into knife handle
production, for Foster Knives, an Lone Wolf Knives. In 2005, we plan to
offer numerous new stocks, including HK, AR-15, RPK, possibly Robinson
M96, and some new 10/22 items. The site will be updated as we progress. |
|
| Q: How do we manufacture our products? |
A: In the past we used a manual 4 spindle carving machine, a traditional stock
making pantograph. The carved stocks were then put through three stages of
sanding, starting at 100 grit, ending with 220.
We now have a copy lathe that automatically cuts and sands the external
profile of the part. We can, in one pass, cut a stock and sand it to a very
clean 180 grit. The part is then placed into a CNC router that inlets, or finish
cuts, the blank to fit the the rifle, swivel etc.. The CNC router is a 4 axis
computer run machine that works off of a program and cuts the part
automatically to a very high tolerance. See the Factory page for more. |
|
| Q: What is our warranty? |
A: We back all of our products 100%. If there is a problem with one of our
products due to faulty wrokmanship, we will replace or repair at no cost, no
problem. |
|
| Q: What is a stock kit? |
A: A stock kit is an unfinished stock set, 99% sanded and fitted. We usually
leave a little extra material on the ends of the parts to allow you to custom
contour the stock to your rifle and to your taste. It is too risky to build a kit
stock to an exact profile, as all military rifle specs can and do vary. This
ensures that the stock are not too small and that they can be fitted and shaped
to an accurate representaion of the original model. |
|
| Q: Do we do custom work? |
A: Not currently, unless it's simply a custom modification to one of our existing
products. |
|
| Q: Do we do finished stock sets ? |
| A: We do some when time allows. Quotes are given upon request |
